Ingredients

Urad dal 1 cup
Green chilly 5 chopped
Ginger chopped 1 inch piece
Onion chopped 2
Curry leaves 2 strips
Salt as per taste


Directions

Soak the dal in water for 3-4 hours. Drain and grind well with using very little water. Add chopped onion, chopped ginger, chopped green chilies and chopped curry leaves and mix well. Make balls out of this paste and put a hole in the middle. Drop it into oil. Fry both the sides till golden brown.

Serve hot with Coconut chutney or tomato ketchup.

it came out very tasty but shape was not accurate.can u suggest me any other simpler way to get the right shape of the vada

You can try this method. Take a scoop of the dough on to your palm or a polythene sheet, pat it into a circle, make a hole in the center and slip it into the heated oil.

Tips of the day
Lemon juice when added to fruit like apples, bananas after cutting, and tossed lightly will prevent them from turning blackish immediately.
