Ingredients

Rice Balls
----------
Rice Flour - 2 cups
Hot water - 6 cups
Cumin seeds - 1 tsp
Grated coconut - 1/2 cup
Small red onion - 200 gm
Garlic - 4 tbsp
Salt as required
Curry leaves a few
Water to boil the dumplings - 5 cups


Directions

To make Rice ball:-

Dry roast 1/2 tsp cumin seeds ,2 tsp garlic chopped, coconut and flour till nice aroma of roasted flour and the spices come.

Boil water with salt as required. Add 150gm small red onions and few curry leaves to it. Then add this spiced water to the roasted rice flour mix very slowly or else, the rice flour may rise up and spread all over the stove. Mix well the flour with a wooden ladle until the whole rice flour becomes a good soft dough. Allow it to cool.

Meanwhile boil water with salt, small red onions, garlic and cumin seed. Make small rice balls and dip them into the boiling spiced water. Use a wide mouthed deep bottomed vessel for boiling water and cook the rice dumplings till they are done, for nearly 7-8 minutes. Rice balls are ready now.

Prawn gravy:

Prawns - 250 gm
Coriander powder - 2 tbsp
Chilly powder - 1 tsp
Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
Garam masala – 1 tsp
Shallots- 1
Ginger garlic paste - 2tsp.
Green chillies - 3
Curry leaves -a few
Coconut milk – 1/2 cup
Oil as required
Salt as required

Method:-

Heat oil in a deep botomed vessel. Over medium heat saute curry leaves, shallots chooped thin, ginger-garlic paste and green. Add coriander powder, chilly powder, garam masala and turmeric powder and mix well. Saute for a minute. Now add prawns and cook until the prawns are done. Finally add the Coconut milk,stir well. Add the prepared Rice dumplings into the gravy and remove from heat.Serve it hot along with the gravy.

Tips of the day
To make bittergourd less bitter, soak the sliced bitter gourd pieces in a little buttermilk with a pinch of turmeric powder and salt.
