Pavakka Kichadi

Fried bitter gourd (pavakka) in yoghurt.

Ingredients

Bitter Gourd(Pavakka)2 medium
Thick Curd 2 cups
Green chillies 2
Dry Red chillies 3
Mustard 1 tsp
Grated coconut 1/2 cup
Curry leaves a few
Oil as required
Salt to taste


Directions

Slice the bitter gourd (pavakka)in to small pieces. Deep fry them, until brown and crisp. Place them on a newspaper or a kitchen tissue so as to remove the excess oil. Meanwhile grind coconut, green chillies and mustard seeds and mix this with yogurt and salt well. Add fried pavakka in to the yogurt and mix well.

Heat oil in a pan and fry the mustard seed and red chillies and curry leaves and add that in to above mixture. Mix well.

Tips of the day
To cook dal quickly, add little turmeric powder and oil to the dal before putting it in the cooker.
