Ingredients

Urad Dal 1/2 cup
Rice 1/2 cups
Curry leaves 2 strips
Grated carrot 5 tsp
Beans chopped 3 tsp
One hand full of rice
Salt as needed


Directions

Wash and Soak urad dal and rice separately for for 3-4 hours. Grind rice and dal separately,adding required quantity of water. Then grind cooked rice and curry leaves and add this to above and mix well. The batter should not be more watery. Keep it overnight to ferment. Then add enough salt, carrot and beans and mix well. To make idlies pour the batter into greased moulds of Idly and cook for 10-15 minutes. Allow it to become cool.

Tips of the day
Add a few drops of lemon juice and 1/2 teaspoon of ghee while steaming basmati rice to make it whiter and keep the rice unbroken.
