Capsicum Dal

Ingredients

Tur dal - 2 cups
Turmeric - a pinch
Capsicum chopped – 2
Tomatto – 2
Green chillies - 3
Garlic – 2 flakes
Coriander leaves - for garnish
Curry leaves - for garnish
Salt to taste
Lime juice (optional) - 1 tsp

For Seasoning:

Cumin seeds - 1 tsp
Mustard seeds - 1 tsp
Ghee - 2 tsps
Asafoetida powder - a pinch


Directions

Pressure cook the dal with turmeric.

Heat the heavy pan and add ghee, mustard seeds and cumin seeds and allow them to splutter. And then add the asafoetida. Add the garlic and green chilies fry them for a minute. Now add the capisum, fry them for 5 minutes once it is tender then add the tomatoes and cook them till done. Add the cooked dal and salt, fry for 4-5 minutes. Add water for liquid consistency. Garnish with curry leaves and coriander leave. Add some lime juice and serve it with rotis or rice.
