Hyderabadi Fish Curry

Ingredients

Pomfret or large fish 500gms


Gingelly seeds (till) 20 gms


Cumin 10 gms


Coriander(dhania) 20gms


Dry coconut 1/2


Onions 250 gms


Curry leaves a few sprigs


Tamarind 30 gms


Ground nut oil 50 ml


Red chillies 3


Asafoetida a pinch


Coriander leaves a few sprigs


Salt to taste


Directions

1. Clean and cut fish into slices.
2. Fry onion in oil
3. Roast coriander seeds red chilles cumin gingelly (till) and grated coconut.
4. Grind masala with the onion to a thick paste.
5. Soak tamrind in hot water. Squeeze out pulp.
6. Heat oil. Add ground paste.
7. Remove pan from fire add ground paste.
8. Return to fire fry well.
9. Add tamrind pulp and salt. Cook for 10minutes.
10. Add sliced piece of fish.
11. Cook till fish is done.
12. Serve garnished with chopped coriander leaves.

Tips of the day
To neutralize burnt food odors in the house, mix 1/4 cup whole cloves with 1 cups water in a pan and bring to a boil. Simmer cloves for 30 minutes.
