Phirni

A mouth watering north indian dessert is made of rice,milk and sugar.

Ingredients

Milk 2 cups
Rice 2 tbsps
Sugar 4 tbsps
Sliced almonds a dozen
Sliced pistas a dozen
Cardamom powder 1 tsp
Half a teaspoon saffron essence
Silver foil for decoration


Directions

Soak the rice for a couple of hours. Drain and grin to a smooth paste. Boil milk. Add rice, sugar and cardamom powder. Stir on a low flame until the mixture thickens. Remove from the flame and add the rest of the ingredients, except the silver foil. Pour the mixture into small dessert bowls and chill. Add silver foil before serving.

Tips of the day
Removed side crusts of bread can be dried in oven till crisp, cooled and ground to use as bread bread crumbs.
