Boondi Raita

A side dish made with a combination of yogurt and boondi.

Curd(plain yoghurt) 2 cups

Bengal gram flour 1/2 cup

Red chilli powder 2 tsp

Cumin powder 1/2 tsp

Coriander leaves a few

Oil for deep frying boondi

Salt to taste


1.Mix together the red chilli powder, salt and bengal gram flour(besan).
2.Add enough water to get a dropping consistency.
3.With a slotted spoon, pour drops of this into hot oil and deep fry till golden brown.Keep aside.
4.Now in a bowl, take the Curd and beat well to form a smooth paste.
5.Add salt, roasted cumin powder and mix well.
6.Just before serving , add the boondi, mix well and then garnish it with coriander leaves.

Tips of the day
Add a few drops of lemon juice and 1/2 teaspoon of ghee while steaming basmati rice to make it whiter and keep the rice unbroken.
