Ingredients

Cabbage medium 1
Onion 1
Garlic 1/2 clove
Grated Coconut 1 Cup
Cumin seeds 1/4 tsp
Turmeric Powder 1/2 tsp
Green chillies 5
Curry leaves a few
Mustard seeds 1/4 tsp
Urad dal 1/4 tsp
Salt to taste
Oil as required


Directions

Chop cabbage, onion and garlic. Heat oil in pan and mustard seed,urad dal and curry leaves. Allow it to splutter and urad dal to turn light brown. Add the chopped cabbage and onion. Then add turmeric powder and salt. Cover it and cook. Usually there will be enough water to cook the vegetable. If not, add a little water.Meanwhile grind coconut, garlic, cumin seeds and green chilly to get a coarse paste. Mix and cook till it is done and water is fully evapourated.

Tips of the day
To remove excess salt in any gravy,make some tiny balls of roti dough and let them simmer with the gravy. They absorb excess salt.Remove them before serving.
