Ingredients

Idly/Dosa batter - 2 cup
Green chilly chopped - 3
Ginger - 1/2 inch piece chopped
Coconut flakes - 2 tbsp
Sooji rava - 2 tbsp
Asafoetida a pinch
Mustard seeds - 1 tsp
Salt as required
Curry leaves a few


Directions

Heat oil, temper mustard seeds and curry leaves. Saute and add to batter. Add green chilli, ginger, asafoetida, coconut pieces and salt. Then add enough water and sooji rava and mix well.

Heat oil in appakarai ( appam vessal) and pour the batter in each pit( kuzhi). When it becomes red turn the other side. Remove when they are fully fried.

Tips of the day
To cook dal quickly, add little turmeric powder and oil to the dal before putting it in the cooker.
