Drumstick Leaves Thoran

Ingredients

Drumstick leaves - 4 cups

Shallots - 6

Green chilly - 2

Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp

Grated coconut - 1/2 cup

Mustard - 1/4 tsp

Rice - 1/4 tsp

Cumin seeds -1/4 tsp

Curry leaves a few

Red chilly - 2

Salt to taste


Directions

Wash the leaves thoroughly under running water and inspect leaves very cearfully.Then pluck the leaves from the stems.

Heat oil in a vessel. Splutter mustard, rice, curry leaves and red chilly in the oil. Then add shallots. When onions are sauted well, add the leaves and mix everything with some salt and turmeric powder. Cover it and let it cook for few minutes. It cooks very fast.

Meantime grind grated coconut,cumin seeds and green chilly and keep it aside.

Remove the lid and add ground coconut.Let it cook for few more minutes till it become dry.

Tips of the day
Lemon juice when added to fruit like apples, bananas after cutting, and tossed lightly will prevent them from turning blackish immediately.
