Ingredients

Yam ( chena) 100 grm
Plantain 100 grm
Pepper 1 tsp
Turmeric powder 1/4 tsp
Green chillies 4
Ghee 3 tsp
Cumin seeds 1/4 tsp
Yogurt 2 cups
Curry leaves a few
Whole red chilly 3
Mustard seedsn1/2 tsp
Fenugreek powder 1/4 tsp
Coconut 2 cups
Salt to taste


Directions

In a vessel, boil yam with just enough water and turmeric. Then reduce heat and cook on a low flame till yam is almost done and water is almost evapourated completely. Meanwhile grind coconut, cumin seeds and black pepper together to a paste. Add the ground coconut and yogurt to yam and keep cooking on very low flame for 30-40 minutes. Donnot let it boil.

Heat oil in a small pan. Add mustard seeds, red chillies, fenugreek seeds and curry leaves. When the seeds start spluttering, pour over the cooked vegetables.

Tips of the day
While frying Puris or Pakoras, add a pinch of salt and this will help absorb less oil.
