Rasam

Ingredients

Tomatoes 3
Garlic 2 cloves
Rasam powder 2 tbsp
Mustard seeds 1/4 tsp
Cumin Seeds 1/4 tsp
Salt as required
Oil 2 tsp
Curry leaves a few
Coriander Leaves a few
Tamarind one small lemon size ball


Directions

Cut tomatoes into small pieces. Heat little oil and put mustard. Allow it to splutter. Add curry leaves. Then add tomato, crushed garlic fry for a while. Add 1-2 cups of water, tamarind juice and salt. Allow the tomatoes to cook. Once the tomatoes are cooked to tender, add rasam powder and continue cooking for 5 more minutes. If needed, you may add additional asafetida at this point. Add the coriander leaves and turn off the heat.

Tips of the day
